It turns out she's a massive pop star having won Eurovision in 1965 with Serge Gainsbourg song (neither of the above). It seems that was the first non-ballad and so we can thank her and Serge for all the poptastic Eurovision wonders that followed. Serge then wrote another song about lollipops (geddit) and when she found out that it had a double meaning, she never worked with him again (she was only 19). After this, Serge went on his merry, naughty way. Look him up on Wikipedia, he's worth a MT link on his own!
