Incredible all-tube digital clock

Eric from Metasonix writes: "One of the German members of the Tube Collectors Association has built a Nixie tube clock. But it's not a typical Nixie clock. The guy decided to make ALL the electronics out of tubes. I estimate about 90 tubes. Some people have far more time on their hands than I do. Text is in German but the photos will make your jaw drop." Tonnes of pictures here, and this coming from a man who builds synths from tubes. Makes this look even lamer, doesn't it?
UPDATE: It took 7 years to build, and contains 103 tubes.

Comments:
Wow thats a lot of work! And nicely done too.
... and since i do speak german I can tell that the project took over 7 years and there are a total of 103 toobs in this beast.

KILLER! Now If we could get him to build a national debt nixie clock, that would be HUGE!

this is very cool. WTF is up with the Hughes and Kettener pile? It's so futuristic that it's at least 10 years ahead of the inevitable time when that awful 80s look comes back. Would make a nice Xmas gift pack if bundled with a slim jim tie sporting piano keyboard motif.

Up next: The guy who built a hundred-and-then-some tube circuit goes back to elementary school to learn how to write his own language.

I'll bet that German guy could build a kickass Hammond Novachord rack-mount clone.

What are the musical properties of the clock?

My guitar amp has transistors in it.

Can we therefore expect to see a Music Thing post about automotive electronic ignition systems?

If your automotive ignition system makes you smile, send me a picture and I'll post it!

I think that will happen as soon as you rename yourself "The Comic Guy from the Simpsons"

People: This is a 60 Hz Hum Generator.

This beast hums more to the tune of 100 hertz actually, and there are only 50 hertz coming out of the wall socket in euroland anyway.

Superb blog. Thanks for the information, it is very useful. Are you in a clock collecting? My site clock collecting provide a lot of resources for collectors.
