My friend-of-a-friend Steve in Bogota just wrote this great piece for the Miami Herald about a busker called César López who makes guitars from guns: "In January, Colombian Vice President Francisco Santos promised López 12 AK-47 assault rifles, the first three from a 2-year-old peace process between the government and right-wing paramilitaries...As part of his commitments with the vice president's office, he is helping several victims of land mines form a bongo group." Along with samples of César playing, the story also contains a link to the most widely respected academic writing on the subject: 10 Guitars Shaped Like Guns. (Thanks, Martin)
