The competition was known as the Soddy Awards, and the overall winner was, quite rightly, Ray Wilson's Mini Synth, which nearly inspired me to buy a soldering iron myself. I would also have voted for Rene Schmitz' awesome, glowing, perspex-fronted tube synth, stuffed with blue-glowing thyratrons...
