E-Phonic have just released Version 3 of Drumatic, their fantastic VST drum synth. For a while earlier this year, I was seriously considering spending £150 on a second-hand Korg Electribe ER-1 to get those great old electro drum noises (Sasha & BT recorded 'Ride' on a ER-1 and an EA-1). Then I found Drumatic 2, and decided I didn't need to spend the money. Version 3 is even better - probably the cleverest thing anyone has yet made with SynthEdit, the DIY synth building software. Version 2 had a fantastic kick drum made with a pure sine wave, but Version 3 is somehow more refined, with all the oomf and slightly more class. More
