Josh gets a Propellerheads Reason logo tattooed on his wrist

Josh writes to let me know about his new tattoo. He's had a Reason logo put on his left wrist, and captured the event on YouTube. The whole thing could be a publicity stunt around the impending release of Reason 4 (Peter has the story, love that the new modular synth is called Thor), but the video is pretty convincing. You've got to wonder about a software tattoo. What if you'd got the original Cubase logo tattooed in 1989? Or if you were way ahead of the game and into Reality - the first ever soft synth, designed by Dave Smith. Imagine if you were a dedicated Windows user of Emagic Logic in ealy 2002, shortly before Apple bought the company. The shame! Anyway, I've covered Synth tattoos in the past, but never managed to find one that was super super cool. Seen any?

Comments:
Yikes, how's he gonna explain that one to his grandkids? "Well Timmy, there was this great MIDI program we all worshiped back in the day and well..."

Good luck!

"Well, I had a very good Reason to get it..."

I'll be impressed with a RB-338 tat! JK.

well, I would tell my grandkids that there is this really cool music software that allowed me to make music in a way I couldn't before and that's why I can drive them around in a lexus instead of a hundai ;)

I don't think it's THAT weird. It's a nice logo...

About the original Cubase logo, I think it would be rather cool, in a nerdy kind of way, if some Cubase fanatic had that (of course it would be just insane if a Reason fanatic had it).

What do you think was my first music computer? ;-)

Hehe brilliant, very nerdy! a mate of mine from a very rough estate has the steinberg logo tatooed in the same place!

Why would you have to explain tattoo's to your grandkids?
Why is that the eternal reason not to get tattoo:ed?

Do your own thing and screw what ppl will think of it in 50 years time, as long as you're sure you really want it, go for it.

When I've gotten a new tatoo, it's looked swollen as heck for the first few days. That tat is lying flat. either he heals really fast, or it's not legit.

Also, they bleed when you get them. I couldn't tell if his wrist was bleeding or not. For a moment, it looked like it might have been.

After the meaning associated with the tat fades from everyone's memory, it's value will be in the asthetics of the logo. Which aren't bad, so if it's real, at least it's not regrettable.

Betting that getting the supercollider logo . . . or source code!

I have a stylized schematic of a ring modulator on my leg.

See it here.

I heal very fast ;) For real though, I can assure you it's no publicity stunt. My arm is in fact very swollen in that picture. You just can't see it because I used a flash.

It's a funny thing to me, reading some of these comments. What would I tell my grandkids? What kind of question is that? Certainly not a question someone who can bring the ROCK would ask.

This is nothing more then an updated version of a bass or rock guitar tattoo. What's the big deal?

I think it looks awesome and the grandkids would know you well enough to know that grandpa rocks :)

for anyone with an hour or so spare, there's stacks of music tattoo pics here... http://www.bmezine.com/tattoo/music001.html

cant do it. that one law of expanding technology makes any tattoo obselete by the time the artist is done.
