The Skellotron see-through Mellotron

Gear Junkies have the scoop on this incredible (and vile) looking transparent Mellotron built by Streetly Electronics. They describe it as "a bespoke commission and a true realisation of a personal vision", and it's even been featured in stupid-rich-men's bible Robb Report. No word on which anonymous billionaire paid for it. Noel Gallagher bought this Mellotron a while back, so it's not him. If you must go transparent, go DIY.

Comments:
We rebuilt the MKVI for Noel Gallagher within 6 months of delivery because it failed to meet expectations and he didn't use it. We changed the headblock (no azimuth alignment on original), changed the tapes and rejigged the keyboard. We also replaced the noisy audio and rewired the control panel. Not bad for 6 months old! The faceplate clearly states 'Rebuilt by Streetly Electronics'. Noel now uses it.

Oooh! Mellotron makers at war? Azimuth Aligners at dawn...

For DIY, how about
making a mellotron out of a dot matrix printer?

Cheers,
Kevin

Transparent Mellotron-rubbish. I'm planning to instal the Royal Albert Hall pipe organ in a perspex matchbox, to be played by my garden gnome
