You might have noticed that Moroder week has been light on gear. That’s mainly because unlike, say, Prince, he didn't use a few idiosyncratic bits of kit which you can hear on every record he made. Giorgio was so absurdly rich that his gear was 'every synth you could buy'. A few years ago, he released Giorgio Moroder Rare Synthesizer Collection, an Akai sample CD, through Hollywood Edge - a sound effects company with the most Eighties logo you've ever seen. Inevitably, those 'rare' synths include a TB303, a Prophet 5 and a Juno 60. Unfortunately, the list price for the CD is $199, but this guy failed to sell one for $29.95 on eBay last month.
